About the Open Graph Preview

This Open Graph preview renders the title, description and image you enter as they would appear on Google, X, Facebook and LinkedIn, so you can judge a truncated title or a badly cropped image before publishing rather than after.

An Open Graph preview renders the card that social platforms build from your page's meta tags. Those tags are invisible on the page itself, so the only way to know the card is right is to preview it.

The image is what goes wrong most often. A missing og:image produces a bare text link that gets far less attention, and a wrongly proportioned one gets cropped badly. 1200 by 630 pixels is the size to target, since it satisfies the 1.91:1 ratio the major platforms expect.

Length limits bite too. Titles are cut around 60 characters and descriptions around 155 to 200 depending on the platform, so the useful part has to come first. Previewing before posting is the whole point, because most platforms cache aggressively and a corrected tag may not take effect for a while.

How to use the Open Graph Preview

  1. Enter your tag values. Provide the og:title, og:description and og:image.
  2. Check the card. See how the share card will be composed.
  3. Fix the problems. Add a missing image, or shorten a title that is being cut.
  4. Publish, then post. Deploy the corrected tags before sharing the link.

Frequently asked questions

Does it read the tags from a live URL?

No. You enter the title, description, image and URL yourself and it renders the previews from those values. That means you can check a page before it is published, which is when it is most useful.

Why do the platforms look so different?

Because each crops and truncates differently. A title that fits on Facebook is cut on X, and LinkedIn shows more description than either. Seeing all four side by side is how you find a wording that survives everywhere.

What image size should I use?

1200 by 630 pixels is the safe default — a 1.91:1 ratio that works across the major platforms. Keep important content away from the edges, since each one crops slightly differently.

Why has my social preview not updated?

Platforms cache the first version they scraped, sometimes for a long time. Use the platform's own sharing debugger or card validator to force a refresh once the tags are corrected.

What happens if I have no og:image?

Most platforms fall back to a plain text link, which gets far less attention in a feed. It is the single highest-value tag to get right, which is why a missing one shows up so clearly here.
