About the PDF Compressor
This tool compresses PDF files by recompressing embedded images and stripping unused data, so a document that will not fit an email limit gets small enough to send while text stays sharp and the page count is unchanged.
Compress PDF files when something is too large to send: a mail server that rejects anything over 25 MB, a portal that caps uploads at 10 MB, or a scanned document that came out at 60 MB because the scanner saved every page as a full-resolution photograph.
Most of the size in a heavy PDF is images, so that is where compression works. Embedded images are recompressed and redundant objects and unused fonts are dropped. Text and vector artwork are untouched, which is why body copy stays crisp even when the file gets several times smaller.
Scans usually shrink the most — often by 70% or more. A text-only PDF exported from Word is already compact and may barely change, which is normal rather than a failure. The page count and page order are never altered.
