About the Multi-Format Barcode Generator
This barcode generator supports several formats — Code 128, Code 39, EAN-13 and UPC — so you can pick the symbology the destination actually requires, and export as PNG or SVG.
A barcode generator supporting several formats matters because symbology is not interchangeable. Retail scanners expect EAN-13 or UPC and will reject anything else at the till; warehouse systems generally want Code 128; older industrial equipment often only reads Code 39.
The retail formats carry rules the others do not. EAN-13 and UPC are fixed-length numeric with a check digit calculated from the preceding digits, and the leading digits identify the company — which have to be assigned to you by GS1 rather than invented. A made-up retail barcode may scan and will collide with someone else's product.
Code 128 and Code 39 have no such registry. They encode whatever value your own system uses, which is why they dominate internal labelling. Choose by destination, then export SVG for print or PNG for screens and documents.

Can I invent an EAN-13 number?
